STUDENT PROJECT PROGRAMME (SPP)
 


To all Principals and SPP Co-ordinators,

KSCST has successfully completed 44th Series of Student Project Program. In this connection, it was informed to all the concerned colleges to send hard copy of Utilization certificate (UC), Statement of Expenditure (SE) and softcopy of the complete project report (Single pdf for each project) for those who have not submitted till date.

As on 28th November 2022, 38 institutions have not submitted the Utilisation Certificate and Statement of Expenditure (UC and SE). Please arrange to send the hardcopy of the UC and SE by speed post / Courier to KSCST office at the earliest.

 The softcopy of the project report to be submitted in .pdf format through email: spp@kscst.org.in (44th Series project report only)

The updated details as on 28th November 2022 is available in following link. Please check and send the pending documents mentioned in the below linked pdf file. Ignore this information, if all the credentials in the pdf is marked as "YES".

Consider this as immediate and respond at the earliest.

The evaluation of other projects / branches will be appended to this list, as and when the experts provide the dates for evaluation.

All students are informed to be ready for evaluation of their projects and interact with the experts and follow the guidelines provided below. Email will be sent regarding dates of evaluation.

The date and time to login to the Google Meet is provided in the email sent to concerned student team. Please follow the timelines for effectively conducting the evaluation.

The email to the concerned project team will be sent 2 - 3 days in advance with Google meeting link. The students are informed to use the Google Meet link for their project review only and not to share the link to any other project team.

All student team are informed to send the PPT file at the earliest.

 

 

Guidelines for online evaluation of Student Projects supported under 44th Series of SPP

Dear Students / Project Guides / SPP Co-ordinators,

The evaluation of 44th Series Student Projects will be held from 2nd August 2021 through online mode. Hence, the students are requested to send power point presentation in the prescribed format attached, by 26th July 2021 through email. spp@kscst.iisc.ernet.in

The Evaluator / expert will go through the PowerPoint presentation and interact with the student team.

Note:

  • Limit to maximum 12 slides in the presentation.

  • PPT should be named with the provided reference number. Ex:  44S_BE_0001.

  • Evaluation link along with date and time will be e-mailed to respective team leader, guide and SPP coordinator.

This is to inform you that the evaluation of projects sponsored under 44th Series of Student Project Program is scheduled be held online this year. The evaluation of the projects is expected to start on 2nd August 2021 and complete latest by 16th August 2021.

The best projects from each branch of engineering will be selected by experts for awarding "Best project of the year award". The best projects will be honored with cash prize and certificate from KSCST.

The guidelines for online presentation is given below for your reference. Please read these carefully and follow all rules to diligently conduct the activity.

1. The online projects evaluation is on Google Meet web platform. The web link will be sent to the Team leader and project guide for online participation one / two days before the evaluation. Please check your emails regularly to note the date and time of evaluation (check in spam box also).

2. The Project teams shall be ready with the short PowerPoint presentation and demo of working model / project outcome. We inform you to intimate the status well in advance to process at our end.

3. The project team members shall login using their actual name and not nick name / short name to enable us to identify the student in the online meeting room.

4. Project team are invited to present through the power point presentation and demo. Please stick on to the time. All the participants except the presenter shall mute the mike and not to initiate / share the presentation. After presentation and evaluation, the team can exit from the presentation group.

5. Each project group is allotted 10 minutes for presentation and demo. (date and time will be intimated to you in advance).

6. Please stick to your contributions and project deliverables, taking only 2-3 minutes for introduction/ background and literature. Spend more time on your work - implementation, experiments and results and 2 minutes for special efforts done by you in the project. We expect maximum of two students to present the project.

7. Prepare the presentation in advance and check for lab availability, computers, network etc. Last minute preparation may lead to problems in interacting with experts. Check for adequate internet bandwidth and sufficient lighting for demonstration of your project.

8. Students shall not use mobile for presentation; they need to use laptops or desktops for presentation.

9. The project team shall keep all demo items on a table near the presentation place visible to the experts.

10. Each team needs to focus the camera of the laptop / desktop to show the parts and operations clearly to judges.

11. We except you to do a dry run with your team to seamlessly present without difficulties and interruptions during web review (Google Meet platform).

We plan to bring out a compendium of best projects for which we inform you to submit the following:

1. Project summary and softcopy of the full report.

2. Submit a five-page summary of your project as per the format sent to you in the project sanction order / website and send the same positively by 30th July 2021. This will be included in the technical compendium published by KSCST. (https://www.kscst.org.in/spp/44_series/44_Series_SPP_Approved_Proposals.html)

3. The Project Completion Report (Final report) has to be sent in SOFTCOPY ONLY (SINGLE PDF FILE) by email (spp@kscst.iisc.ernet.in). The pdf file shall include the certificate duly signed by the Project Guide and Head of the institution regarding completion of the project.

Information to all Students and Project Guides - Projects sanctioned under  44th SERIES - STUDENT PROJECTS PROGRAMME : 2020 - 2021

Dear Students / Project Guides / SPP Co-ordinators,

 

Greetings from Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology, Bengaluru.

Hope you are keeping way and must have initiated project work.

As you are aware that during the first week of May 2021, KSCST sent the project sanction letter of all projects sanctioned under 44th Series of Student Project Programme to all Team leaders email id and Project guide email id.

During July 2021, KSCST remitted the sanctioned amount through NEFT to the respective college bank as provided by the college.

The evaluation of the supported projects will be conducted during July / August 2021 via online mode and participation in the online evaluation process is mandatory, failing to which the sanctioned project will be withdrawn from the list and sanctioned amount shall be returned to KSCST by the respective institution.

It is informed to the Students team to  submit softcopy of Synopsis in pdf (as per the format described in the sanction letter / published  in the KSCST website) by 20th July 2021.

The Project Completion Report  (Final report) has to be sent in SOFTCOPY ONLY (SINGLE PDF FILE) by email (spp@kscst.iisc.ernet.in). The pdf file shall include the certificate duly signed by the Project Guide and Head of the institution regarding completion of the project.

The Synopsis and Project Completion Report softcopy must be named with Reference ID provided by KSCST (Eg: 44S_BE_0001_Synopsis or 44S_BE_0001_Full_Report).

The SPP Co-ordinator or the Project Guide shall arrange to send the Project Completion Report softcopy by 18 August 2021 (After completion of evaluation of projects by KSCST).

Further details regarding project evaluation, final event will be intimated by email / website announcement.

PROJECT PROPOSALS ARE INVITED FROM
FINAL YEAR ENGINEERING STUDENTS

[BE, M.Tech, M.Sc., AND MBA STUDENTS]

 

 

KSCST invites project proposals from the final year BE, M.Tech, M.Sc & MBA students for sponsorship, under the 44th series of Student Project Programme (SPP).

The project proposals can be submitted from 21st October 2020 to 8th January 2021.

Note : The last date to submit / receipt of hardcopy of the SPP project proposal is
postponed from 8th January 2021 to 5th February 2021.

The submitted projects shall mandatorily be from one of the broad themes / areas as below:

1. Non-conventional and / or composite building materials / structures

2. Low-cost modified transport system for village / rural / disabled community

3. Low-cost, eco-friendly potable water filtration

4. Automation or new concepts in agriculture (cultivation, raising crops, irrigation etc.)

5. User friendly devices for aged or physically challenged people

6. Robotics / 3D printing / Cyber security

7. Innovative materials for acoustics and noise Control

8. E-Learning Technologies to villages / panchayat levels

9. Bioenergy / Solar energy application at villages

10. Domestic bio / non-bio waste treatment / recycling

11. Newer techniques in Air Pollution control

12. Newer techniques in treating domestic sewage / industrial effluents

13. Electro-Chemical Devices (Fuel Cells, Capacitors, Batteries, etc.)

14. Technologies relevant in the aftermath of Covid-19.

Who can apply: Final year students of B.E., M.Tech, M.Sc and MBA

How to apply:

1.

Students studying in their final year B.E., M.Tech, M.Sc and M.B.A. are eligible to apply.

2.

The Project Proposals shall be prepared as per the SPP proposal format available from KSCST website.

3.

The team members are advised to carryout prior-art-search before submitting the project proposal to check the novelty of the project.

4.

The project team shall have a maximum of 4 students and each project team shall only send one proposal as per the themes indicated above. Any other project proposals will not be considered and liable for rejection.

5.

The filled proposal along with a Demand Draft (DD) of Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) favouring "Secretary, KSCST", to be sent to "The Secretary, Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology, Indian Institute of Science campus, Bengaluru - 560 012" in a sealed envelope superscribing "Project Proposal for 44th series of Student Project Programme (SPP)".

6.

The Demand Draft (DD) to be drawn only from Canara Bank / State Bank of India payable at Bengaluru.

7.

Kindly keep a photocopy of the completed proposal before submitting to KSCST.

8.

After the completion of proposal, the team leader of the project needs to mandatorily fill the Google Form.

All proposals to be submitted through college / institution.

10.

The Institution shall designate SPP Co-ordinator to co-ordinate with KSCST.

 Evaluation Process :

1.

In the first phase, the submitted projects will be evaluated by experts and then short-listed for sponsorship.

2.

In the second phase, the sponsored projects will be further evaluated by expert committee, either offline / online, and then shortlisted for final state-level seminar and exhibition.

3.

In the third phase, the finalised projects will be called for exhibition/seminar followed by evaluation for the coveted KSCST award.

4.

The sponsored-amount for the project will be sent to the Principal by NEFT.

 Note: The sponsored amount initially will be partial. Upon presentation / evaluation at the second phase, the balance amount will be released for the successful projects.

Guidelines for Project Proposal Submission

 

1.

Students studying in final year engineering are eligible to apply.

2.

The Project Guides / HODs need to critically evaluate the project proposals and select the good proposals before sending them to KSCST.

3.

Each project proposal needs to be enclosed with a processing fee of Rs. 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only) in the form of a Demand Draft favouring "Secretary, KSCST". The Demand Drafts to be obtained from Canara Bank / State Bank of India only payable at Bengaluru. Without processing fee project proposals will not be considered for the evaluation. The Processing fee is non-refundable.

4.

The college should nominate the SPP Co-ordinator with whom KSCST can interact regarding evaluation of sanctioned projects, funding, project synopsis, report submission, participation in Seminar and Exhibition, etc. Please contact the Principal for the same.

5.

The project team (batch) can have up to a maximum of FOUR students.

6.

The team shall submit the hardcopy of the project proposal in the prescribed SPP format only (available in website), duly signed by their Project Guide, Head of the Department and Principal of the institution and it should reach KSCST on or before 5th February 2021. Project proposals sent after this date will not be entertained.

7.

KSCST sponsored project details from 1977-78 to 2014-2015 information is available online in the KSCST website as "SPREAD Online". The abstract and full version of 6 years reports are available. This provides students, information on completed projects, and problems / gaps in technology to develop a project, references and avoid duplication.

8.

Each Project team should send ONLY ONE proposal.

9.

The project team SHALL NOT change the topic of the project after the project has been selected and sponsored by KSCST and should not deviate from the identified objectives. In the event of any such changes, the project will be treated as cancelled and the college should refund the sanctioned amount to Secretary, KSCST, Indian Institute of Science Campus, Bengaluru - 560012.

10.

The SPP Co-ordinator of the college needs to inform the students who are submitting the project proposal to KSCST that they complete the proposal in all respects duly certified by the HOD / Project Guide and Principal of the institution.

11.

After sending the filled project proposal to KSCST, it is mandatory to fill the Google Form about the project information by Project Team leader and submit without fail. (Photocopy of the filled project proposal to be kept ready for filling the google form)

Project proposals received will be reviewed and evaluated by a team of experts and those selected will be announced in the KSCST website - www.kscst.iisc.ernet.in and www.kscst.org.in

The project sanction letter will be sent to the Principal of the institution with copies to the Project guide and Head of the Department.

15.

The evaluation of projects will be conducted only at nodal centres / Web Meeting. The students need to demonstrate their project in the nodal centre or during Web Meeting. The sponsored projects will be short-listed for Seminar and Exhibition during the evaluation. It is mandatory for the project team to exhibit / demonstrate their project in the nodal centre and also in the seminar and exhibition (if selected). The seminar and exhibition will be held during July / August 2021. Venue will be intimated to the college.

16.

The amount sponsored will be sent to the college account in the name of the Principal by NEFT transfer. The project guide shall take necessary steps to utilise this amount for the project work and submit the utilisation certificate duly certified by CA of the institution and statement of expenditure through the Principal of the institution.

Every sanctioned project will be given an unique Project Reference Number. Please use the same reference number while corresponding with KSCST by E-mail: spp@kscst.iisc.ernet.in

The nodal evaluation of sponsored projects will be conducted during May - June 2021 and the projects will be short-listed for annual Seminar and Exhibition. The juries will be selecting best projects for the awards at seminar and exhibition.

19.

It is mandatory for the project team (one student and Project Guide) selected for Seminar and Exhibition to participate in the event. This will be organised in one of the engineering colleges in the state. (Previous Seminar and Exhibition (42nd Series) was hosted by KLE Dr. M. S. Sheshgiri College of Engineering and Technology, Belagavi on 26 - 27th July 2019) and 43rd Series of SPP, the webinar event was held during July-August 2020. The concluding event and best projects of the year 2019-20 was announced on 21st September 2020.

20.

It is mandatory for the project team to send the project synopsis (of 2-3 page write-up) of the completed project  for publishing in the form of digital / hardcopy of the SPP compendium which will be brought out during Seminar and Exhibition.

21.

It is also mandatory for the project team to submit one hardbound copy of the final project report along with a CD containing the final report (including cover page, initial pages, contents, Abstract) in .pdf format to KSCST.

22.

During the Seminar and Exhibition, "KSCST Best Project Award" will be presented to the outstanding projects with a cash prize (for both Students and Project Guides) and certificates to all participants of the Seminar and Exhibition in a function organized for the occasion.

The objectives and methodologies of Student Project Programme (SPP) prompted to use the word "SPREAD" as an acronym [coined by taking the first letter of words Student Projects Reviewed, Exhibited, Awarded and Documented to name the application software developed for browsing and querying the SPP database.
 

Students can get information about completed projects and note certain problem faced, further development of a project, references when implementing in their project and avoid duplication of projects while applying to KSCST for project sanctions.
