KSCST has been working
earnestly to popularize science among rural children. In this
regard, the Council has initiated a new programme "Vijnana
Darshan" under outreach activities.
This programme aims to take the
students on a Science tour to leading science, R & D
institutions in Bangalore to kindle the interest in the
students to consider pursuing science in their higher studies.
Objectives:

of rural students and teachers in science related activities

between scientists and rural students
In the year 2013-2014, the Council had arranged visit
of 100 Pre-University College Students and 10 faculty members
from Sagar Taluk, Shimoga District and Gubarga District.
This
programme is supported by the Department of Science and
Technology, Government of Karnataka. The dates of visit were
19-21st December 2013.
On first day 19th December 2013 students visited Lalbagh -
Botanical Garden and Sir. M. Visvesvaraya Rain Water Theme
Park in Jayanagar and in the afternoon they have visited
Bannerghatta Biological Park.
In the evening students have
visited Indira Gandhi Musical Fountain.
On second day 20th December 2013 the students visited HAL
Heritage Centre and during afternoon they had visited Centre
for Nano Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Science
and in the evening the students interacted with scientists
from IISc.
On third day 21st December 2013 the students visited
Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium and Visvesvaraya Industrial and
Technological Museum and during afternoon they had visited
BWSSB -Water Recycling Plant in Cubbon Park. The Students and
Teachers were extremely happy and expressed their gratitude
towards KSCST for organizing Vijnana Darshan Programme.
