1975

KSCST the brain child of visionaries in Indian Institute of Science and administrators of the Government of Karnataka was established as registered society.

1977

KSCST launched Student Projects Programme (SPP), the first of this kind in India.

1981

KSCST jointly with Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, organised first All India Meet of State Councils.

1982

Community biogas plant set up at Pura village, Kunigal district (113 Kms. from Bangalore) with a view to provide cooking gas for the villages.

1984

240 m2 solar pond for low grade heat extraction established at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

Astra Ole an, improved fuel efficient wood burning stove, developed in an earlier project at KSCST is adopted by the Government of Karnataka for large scale dissemination all over the state.

1985

Sisal industries demonstration unit established at Ungra to process one TPD sisal leaves to manufacture rope, paper and Hecogenin.

1986

Cell for Renewable Energy Dissemination Activities (CREDA) setup at KSCST to co-ordinate dissemination of renewable energy technologies.

1988

KSCST took initiative to setup the Drought Monitoring Cell.

1989

First 100 kW Wood Gasifier based power generation system commissioned at Andaman & Nicobar islands.

Development of Powdery Biomass Gasifier project was launched.

1990

Training programmes on Alternative Building Technologies launched.

1991

Launched "SNAPSHOT" quarterly newsletter for an information exchange among state councils in the country.

1992

Natural Resources Data Management System (NRDMS) Programme was launched in Karnataka.

1993

District Committees for Science & Technology (DCST) established earlier made operational on a regular basis. Testing of 100 kW gasifier by Swiss authorities for their use in Europe marks one more first in technology transfer from India.

1994

Installed the 40 kW microhydel unit at Keregodu village near Mandya.

1995

Preparation of Zoning Atlas for Siting of Industries was initiated in Mysore district. The project supported by Central Pollution Control Board, Government of India.

1996

Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources [MNES] sponsored project for successfully removing H2S from industrial and municipal waste effluent was initiated.

1997

Projects on Draught Animal Power and Bio-diversity was initiated.

1998

Installed Microhydel unit at Elneer.

Established a secretariat to coordinate the activities of Indo-Norwegian Environmental Programme (INEP) activities. Project is coordinated by a Senior scale KAS officer from Government of Karnataka.

1999

Launched a project to study and establish R & D units in Small Scale Industries.

Implementation of INEP was on.

2000

Projects on Organic Sludge Utility in Wasteland Development

2001

Projects on Agro biodiversity. Involvement in developing biodiversity strategy and action plan.

2002

Initiated Scientists - Students Interaction Programme (SSIP).
Launching of Biomass Energy for Rural India (BERI) Programme.

2003

Launching of Rainwater Harvesting programme.

2004

Project on Identification of Strategies for mapping of S&T needs in the State.

2005

Starting of Patent Information Centre (PIC) with support of TIFAC, DST, Government of India.

Launching of RDPR-KSCST Rainwater Harvesting Programme for rural Karnataka.

National Meet of State S&T Ministers, Heads of S&T Councils and S&T Departments.

2006

Establishment of Rainwater Harvesting Cell at KSCST

Initiation of providing technical consultancy services by KSCST on commercial terms to institutions.

2007

Established Karnataka State Spatial Data Infrastructure (KSSDI), with support of Government of Karnataka and Government of India.

2008

Initiated projects on - Resource Mapping, Metal Recovery from E-waste and Utilisation of Iron Ore Tailings in Concrete.

2009

Launched Karnataka Geoportal - Inaugurated by Union Minister for Science and Technology.

2010

Initiated and organized the first Science and Technology Conference.

Organised Trainers Training Programme for NAM Countries.

Establishment of Biofuel Cell to co-ordinate R & D activity.

Evaluation and Monitoring watershed activities under IWMP Programme.

2012

Assessing the status of Kalyanis and measures for Rejuvenation in Different Agroclimatic  Zones of Karnataka state using Geo-Spatial Technologies

2013

Digital Geospatial Data Generation and Terrestrial Scanning for 3D Reconstruction of Heritage Site at Hampi

2014

Implementation of Virtual Laboratory (E-Learning Centre) to improve the quality of Education in the Backward Taluks of Karnataka

2015

Establishment of Prof. A. K. N. Reddy Video Streaming Studio at KSCST

Establishment of Energy Cell

2016

Establishment of Virtual Classroom in Government High Schools in the backward taluks of Karnataka under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Scheme of Rural Electrification Corporation Limited, New Delhi.

Empowerment of Girl Student with Science and Technology - Chetana Programme

2017

Establishment of Academic and Industry Interaction Cell (AIIC) at KSCST to converge outreach activities and support product development arising out of student projects through industry collaboration

2018

Developed guidelines for mapping of villages using high resolution satellite imageries

2019

Establishment of IP Centres in institutions across Karnataka to train and capacity build of faculty and students in patent filing

Established Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security to promote cyber safe Karnataka by creating conducive environment for industry collaboration, training / capacity building, addressing skill gaps and startup mentoring

2020

Digital documentation of state archeological sites using 3D laser scanning
