DEMONSTRATION OF MICRO-HYDEL POWER PLANT IN HILLY AREAS OF KARNATAKA.
  Department of Science and Technology, Government of India has sanctioned the project entitled "Demonstration of Micro-hydel Power Plant in Hilly areas of Karnataka" with a total cost of Rs.14,29,000/- during March 2008.

ESTABLISHMENT OF BIOFUEL CELL AT KSCST
  KSCST has signed an MOU with the Karnataka State Bio Fuel Development Board (KSBDB) on 28th April 2011 agreeing to provide technical support to KSBDB for implementation of Biofuel activities in the State. KSCST had submitted a project proposal to KSBDB for establishing a Biofuel Cell at KSCST with a total outlay of Rs. 12.00 lakhs for one year. The project has been approved by KSBDB.

CONSTRUCTION OF FUEL-EFFICIENT DOMESTIC ASTRA STOVES IN VILLAGES AROUND ARASIKERE
  The project was started from March 30th, 2011 and the following progress has been achieved so far with respect to construction of 100 stoves in selected houses (by the RFO, Forest Department, Arasikere) in various villages around Arasikere.

IDENTIFICATION OF POTENTIAL SITES FOR INSTALLATION OF MICROHYDEL POWER PLANTS IN TRIBALLY DOMINATED HILLY AREAS OF KARNATAKA
  Department of Science and Technology, Government of India has sanctioned approval for the project entitled "Identification of Potential Sites for Installation of Microhydel Power Plants in Tribally Dominated Hilly areas of Karnataka" during July 2012.

ESTABLISHMENT OF ENERGY CELL AT KSCST
  KSCST has set up Energy Cell to create awareness about usage of renewable energy devices and Energy Conversation, capacity building and bring in Innovative projects in the Energy Sector. The Energy Cell was inaugurated by Prof. D K Subramanian, former Secretary, KSCST and President, Foundation for Advancement of Education and Research, Bengaluru on 30th September 2015.

FIELD TESTING OF HYBRID ULTRA CAPACITOR (HUC) POWERED SOLAR PV - LED LIGHTING KIT DEVELOPED BY SSCU, IISC, BENGALURU
  Prof. A K Shukla, Solid State Structural Chemistry Unit (SSCU), Indian Institute of Science and MESHA Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd Bangalore have developed and demonstrated a Hybrid Ultra-Capacitor (HUC) Technology for energy storage applications. This project was given financial support from Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. KSCST has taken the responsibility of field testing the technology in different climatic conditions.
